Walk Off The Earth – Portland, Maine 5/26

Let me just start off by saying…….WOW! The crowd was definitely pleased with this show. It was a packed venue and the energy was felt!

To start the show was Gabriela Bee of the EH BEE FAMILY. Her set was fun, playful, and full of interesting props and even a gorilla appearance. There was many kids in the crowd ready to see Gabriela and once she came out singing they were all ready to sing along.

I scoped out one young girl in the crowd who was there with her mom and we made eye contact a few times; she seemed to follow my every move before the show started. Many times in my line of work people think I am part of the bands or the venue and they keep an eye on me thinking I have the inside scoop to the show. However, I am only there to do a job; my job is to capture moments of shows to share with the public via social media channels. Following our quick eye contact I approached her mom and asked if I could photograph her daughter for my story. She accepted.

This exposure for the band is a key element to getting their music discovered. And more importantly exposing them as a artist. Often times I work with up and coming artists who have a very little fan following. By them allowing me to do what I do gives them another way to market themselves. I am not a paid photographer or journalist; I am freelance. And by freelance I mean I work for FREE most occasions.

Back to the show; after Gabriela performed there was a small intermission before Walk Off The Earth took the stage.

Their opening was a short film they made depicting their quick travel to Portland, ME. The feature seemed to be a version from the film Baby Driver. Finally they made it …. and just in time for the show to start!

I have seen their videos on YouTube and I can tell you that they are even better in person. The talent is raw and extremely energetic. The musical props they use in their videos carry into their show. Sarah knows how to wow the crowd and draw them in, she even finds her way into the packed crowd to connect with her fans and get them moving in what seems to be a very special W.O.T.E. dance party, light sticks and all!

I hope you enjoy the pictures from the Portland, ME. show and please feel free to share these posts on your Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, or other social media outlets. Let’s support this band in the best way we know how; SHARE!
