Update on Dad!

For those who are new and have not seen the previous post on my dad and his Cancer, click here. If you have already read it I will update you on how he is today….. (4 months after surgery)

So far so good. My dad no longer has Cancer. However it does not mean the fear is gone. He still has to do his routine follow-ups and get used to his new life without a bladder. From what I know from afar is that he is adjusting well and has adapted to his stoma and urostomy bag.

It still sucks being far from home while he is doing much better and his life has almost resumed to normalcy, but I have to be grateful that I was able to go home back in December to be with him and the family for 2 weeks during and after surgery.

He is also putting his weight back on again so he doesn’t look as frail as he did months ago when he was on his 4 rounds of chemo and after surgery.

He is finding that certain clothing works better with maneuvering around the bag, he may be growing to love overalls when he goes out on service calls. Bending and pivot movements are his biggest struggle. But he says he is managing.

Through this entire last year and a half he has managed to keep up with his business he has been running for 32+ years!

When I was there in December I actually was able to put in some office work for him (like I did in the past when he was my employer) so that his customers got their invoices so he had some money flow coming in during recovery. Another reason I was glad I was there!

Cancer definitely sucks, but our family was so strong and supported him to our fullest through it all; especially his circle of friends too! I feel with such a strong support it made him that much stronger and encouraged him to push through all of his bad days!

I love you daddy!
